Horror Helping The Hungry!

Hello,

This is Mike Ensley from Nightmare Theatre, in Pensacola, Florida. As someone who loves horror movies and being in the horror community, I am writing you today to ask a favor.

Like a lot of places, our city has big problems economically.  Unemployment is in double digits, higher than almost anywhere else in our state, and the needy seem to be the fastest growing segment of our population.

One of the shining lights of our community’s effort to help the needy is Manna Food Pantries. For many years, they have been a lifeline to the hungry, feeding many men, women and children.

Unfortunately, the economy has also affected Manna, and with the end of another popular food program, they are in dire straights:

As a person who is visible in my community, I wanted to use that platform to do something to help. As a result, I’m organizing a food drive on the 29th of October, at Nightmare Theatre’s annual screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which has grown to be one of the largest in the Southeast.

In addition, I want to try to do a raffle/auction, in which we could raise funds to help Manna get re-stocked, particularly as the holidays approach.

That’s where I need your help. I’m not asking you for money or a lot of time; what I would like to ask for is a donation of items for the auction. As someone respected and admired by horror fans, a signed photo, DVD, script, etc. has great power to raise funds.

In 2006, Nightmare Theatre hosted an auction for Hurricane Katrina relief, which included items from stars such as Robert Englund, David Hedison, The Ladies of the Evil Dead, Kyra Schon, Ben Chapman and others, and raised over $700 that we were able to give directly to a New Orleans family who had taken refuge here in Pensacola.

If you can help, please let me know. Any donation items can be sent to:
Nightmare Theatre
4060 Glenway Dr.
Pensacola, FL 32526

It would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike Ensley
